On a recent trip to Mexico, I visited Grand Velas Riviera Maya, a luxury all-inclusive property that’s been popular with my clients for several years now. This hotel is not your typical all-inclusive! It is five star and delivers an exceptionally high level of service to guests.
While large in size, Grand Velas Riviera Maya maintains immaculate grounds and facilities. In terms of accommodations, guests can choose from three sections, each with a different price point. Zen Grand Suites sit furthest from the beach and have a jungle setting, Ambassador Suites are located closest to the main beach and pool area, and Grand Class Suites are oceanfront and predominantly adults-only (also accepting children 12 and older).
This all-suite property set the standard for all-inclusive luxury when it opened several years ago and has seen brisk bookings ever since. The smallest accommodations are almost 1200 square feet in size, so families seeking a little extra space flock here. Whether you choose to stay in the Zen section or closer to the beach, there’s no sacrifice to be made in terms of room size and decor. For those who want to splurge, all three sections offer some suites with private plunge pools.
In addition to posh accommodations, Grand Velas Riviera Maya serves fantastic food at eight different restaurants. If you’re envisioning long buffet lines, wrist bands and mediocre food, think again! No buffets here – only a la carte service. Not only is the food top notch, Grand Velas Riviera Maya is also home to both a Five and Four Diamond restaurant – unheard of anywhere else.
Also setting it apart from other properties is the almost 90,000 square foot spa, which has won countless awards and continues to be regarded as one of the best in the Yucatan. As Virtuoso guests, my clients receive a daily $50 credit at the spa (per adult), which is new for 2015 and a fantastic amenity! Equally as impressive was the Kids Club and Teen Center – a haven for younger guests with countless electronics, games, activities, etc.
